Sarah Palin is known for on-air gaffes as well as a no-nonsense, hard-line stance when it comes to politics. But she’s certainly not overly serious all the time, and her appearance on the Today show yesterday certainly showed the former vice presidential candidate’s lighter side. As Matt Lauer announced to the audience, “it is a pleasure to welcome Sarah Palin to the program this morning,” the cameras panned to Palin sitting on the set of “Today” amidst a mountain of newspapers. It was an obvious reference to Palin’s interview with Katie Couric on “Good Morning America,” when should couldn’t easily answer Couric’s question regarding which newspapers she read.

Palin wasn’t finished there, however. There was another portion of the show when Palin was seen in Lauer’s dressing room, writing notes on her hand with a Sharpie. That, of course, was a reference to Palin looking at her hand for notes she had written there during a speech. Palin said to Lauer during what amounted to a comedy sketch, “Thanks for letting me crash your dressing room.” Lauer replied, “Technically, I didn’t give you permission to be in there.”

But Palin also talked politics, including Mitt Romney. She said of Romney as the potential GOP nominee, “Anything is still possible. There can still be a bit of a shake-up. But the numbers are what the numbers are.” Clearly, Palin isn’t very happy with the thought of Romney as the GOP nominee, though there is very little she can do about that at this point.

I found the most amazing software the other day for my Mac! I have tons of footage from family get-togethers, school functions, outings with friends, and memories that I can never replace.  The new DVD ripper for mac is amazing for keeping all of my precious memories intact.  I love the fact that it is inexpensive and well worth the small amount that I paid.  I found the information for the DVD ripper mac by accident and stumbled upon a cool website. The website was very easy to follow and when I read everything about the product it completely sold me.  The DVD ripper for mac allows me to take my DVD footage, rip it to my device, and I can edit my movie right on the device.  This is just a few features that the product gives me the opportunity to do.  The DVD converter for mac is also fabulous for taking my old DVD’s and saving them to my device.  The DVD won’t have a start menu anymore it will just begin playing immediately, which is a really nice feature for me. 

I can save my favorite scene and turn it into a JPG.  That, to me, is amazing.  I can even use that picture for my background on whatever device I am using the software. I find this software very helpful and I find new uses for it every day.  Just the other day I ripped my favorite DVD to my iPhone.  I love a song off of the movie but I have never been able to find who sings the song.  I was able to pull the song right off the DVD that I ripped to my phone.  This made me so happy because it has allowed me to listen to the song repeatedly.  The whole application is so easy and even fun to use.  Knowing that I can have all of the DVD’s that I would want to watch on my mac, iPhone or PSP while I am on the go is a great feeling.  I have even been in the airport on the way to vacation and pulled out my device and began to watch a movie.  That was such a convenient way to fill my time between flights and there would have been no way possible that I could have lugged around DVD cases.  I was only able to watch movies because I had previously ripped them to my device.  I use the software frequently and can see myself continuing to use it on a near daily basis.  I am so thankful for finding this cool new DVD rip mac.… Read the rest

The ability of rhetoric to create important and interesting themes in literature can be somewhat lost among the more straightforward and commonplace techniques employed by authors to form major points and ideas within their writing. Techniques such as plot devices, dialog, and allusions are no doubt incredibly meaningful to the transmission of a work of literature’s themes, although in many cases the rhetoric of that literary work may be just as, if not more important. One very widespread rhetorical device, repetition, has been used by writers throughout the ages to form subtle yet major ideas in their work. Repetition can be used in various ways including, but not limited to, “palilogia”, the repetition of a single word, with no other words in between, “anaphora”, the repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of every clause, and “alliteration”, the repetition of the same sound at the beginning of two or more stressed syllables. One of the greatest masters of the forms of repetition in literature was William Shakespeare, who used almost every conceivable type of repetition.

Besides the more technical uses of repetition, he is famous for repeating certain keywords throughout his plays to construct specific themes. In the Bedford Companion to Shakespeare, Russ McDonald emphasizes Shakespeare’s decisive use of language, writing that, “Shakespeare’s verbal power is an inexhaustible subject; finally it is a mystery. The magic of his language, its irresistible attraction, is a result of an artistic imagination speaking to the imagination of the audience, and figurative language is the medium for that communication.
